Inside Line Promotions – ALVIN, Texas (Sept. 30, 2021) – Joe Dooling Autosports driver Trey Burke is heading into his final event of the Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship season this weekend eyeing success.

Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio, hosts Rounds 17 and 18 of the 2021 campaign on Saturday and Sunday. Each day features qualifying and one feature.

“I think the year has gone well,” he said. “At the beginning of the year I told myself we’re probably going to run last the first few races and that’s fine. We just have to make sure by the end of the year we’re not back there. It’s gradually making its way there and that’s what we want. Sooner or later you’re fighting for top fives and wins. It’s a process and we’re doing good on what we want to do.”

Burke is coming off his career-best outing with the series when he advanced from 19th to 14th at New Jersey Motorsports Park in Millville, N.J., last month. He also charged from 21st to 15th in the previous round at the track.

“Our confidence is good, but 14th isn’t where I want to be,” he said. “I know that once we get where we want to be it’ll come naturally. That’s how racing is. It’s all about experience. We don’t have the luxury of going out regularly and trying it to see how it works. I really want a top 10 this weekend and I know we can do it. We have the crew and we have the car. I have to be able to put it together.”

The 13-turn, 2.258-mile road course is the only one repeating on the series schedule this year. Burke highlighted three rounds at the track in July with a 17th-place showing.

“It’s a huge advantage with us being able to come back to this track,” he said. “I feel like Road America (in June) is when we started to put it all together. Coming back to this track with knowledge setup-wise and race-wise, it’s a completely different factor. The more you’re in it the more it will help you so it’s a huge opportunity to come back to a track for the second time.”
